WHY AM I DOING THIS
When in 2010 I was diagnosed with not one but three autoimmune disorders within a couple of months and decided to use food and lifestyle change as my medicine, the limitations on what I could eat were overwhelming and ever-changing. How to implement all these requirements into our family’s diet and heal myself?! I was literally lost when told to completely eliminate all gluten, sugar, and yeast from my diet: “What am I going to eat now?!” was my only thought.
Initially, I was in shock of how to manage my new way of eating. Today, 8 years later, I am not only eating gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy free, grain-free and yeast free, but I also have enough knowledge and understanding, to listen to my body and try different approaches to my diet.
Over the years I have experimented with many different diets: Atkins, the Zone, South Beach, Macrobiotics, Blood Type Diet, Candida Diet, Paleo and most recently Vegan, just to name a few. All these years of trying different diets while learning and growing in my understanding of how the body works, led me to a simple truth of no “perfect diet”. Diets alone do not heal but balanced and healthy living does.
In retrospect, I could have used someone to help guide me and navigate this vast ocean of diets, allergens, supplements, vitamins, recipes, etc. I have put a lot of energy and effort into changing my diet, but as a result, I have never felt better or healthier. I have been successful in eliminating 99% of the symptoms of my autoimmune disorders, all three seem to be in remission, and I am managing them through my lifestyle, diet, and nutrition. In fact, I am confident, that with time I will be able to help my body to heal itself better, more effectively, and most importantly to prevent unnecessary progression of the disease and further damage.
I wanted to continue educating myself, to research, to learn, all while sharing, educating and supporting others. After graduating from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition® as a Board Certified AADP (American Association of Drugless Practitioners) Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I have fundamental and practical knowledge of nutrition and be in a position to better educate others on how to live a balanced life.
The purpose of this blog is to share information that I feel is important and of an interest to me.
To your health,
P.S. I have to note that English is not my first language and I never studied English, just picked it up living in the US, so in advance, I do apologize for any spelling/grammar errors. I am doing my best 🙂
