Golden Milk Recipe

There are many recipes on the internet for a golden milk drink. Some require making a paste first, that takes a bit of time, others are quicker. I need to find one for myself that does not just taste good and provides all the benefits of turmeric, but also is a quick one. So after trying few different options, I came up with a one that takes under 1 min of prep time and about 3 minutes of heating (even less with a frother) but then I transfer it into a thermos and it continues to infuse with all the good stuff.

Here is my modified version (no sweetener):

• 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk

• 1-2 teaspoons of dry powdered organic turmeric

• 1 teaspoon of dry powdered organic ginger

• ½ teaspoon cinnamon

• ½ teaspoon nutmeg

• ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

• I heaping teaspoon of coconut cream

I do not sweeten my golden milk, but for my kids, I add stevia or raw honey ones the drink is ready. I also add fat in a form of coconut cream – for better absorption and to make it more satisfying.

I use my milk frother and add all ingredients in. You can also use a small saucepan and warm over low heat for about 5 minutes. Ones milk is nice and hot (or my frother stops) I transfer the liquid to a thermos coffee mug, where it can sit and get more potent until I am ready to drink it. If you have time, you can leave it on the stove for up to 15min.

• 3 cups unsweetened almond milk

• 1 inch piece turmeric, grated

• 1 inch piece ginger, grated

• ½ teaspoon cinnamon

• ½ teaspoon nutmeg

• ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

• 1 dropper of stevia or powder form to taste

Instructions

Add all of the ingredients into a medium saucepan and warm over low heat for about 15 minutes or until warmed through, stirring occasionally. Strain and enjoy!
